German passport online. Please book an appointment for the passport application in the online appointment system. Be sure to select the correct German mission! We ask for your understanding that due to our limited capacity we cannot accept applications from citizens who appear without an appointment.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION GERMAN PASSPORT ONLINE

The German passport contains a chip on which the fingerprints of the passport holder are stored. This applies to all applicants who have reached the age of 6. You must therefore apply for your German passport in person at the responsible German diplomatic mission. Submitted passport applications cannot be processed.

The validity of the biometric passport is 6 years for applicants under the age of 24, otherwise 10 years.

Please make sure

• the application form is filled out
• that you have the correct passport photos (see photo examples and template), and that
• all necessary evidence is submitted
• This speeds up processing. In some cases, additional information and/or documentation may be required, especially if the old passport expired several years ago.

Passport applications that require a name declaration can only be processed after the relevant declaration has been submitted. It is therefore essential to check whether you are obliged to submit a name declaration. A name declaration is required, for example, if you have married since your last passport was issued and your surname has changed.
